Did Television Turn People Into Watchers, Not Doers
Did Television Turn People Into Watchers, Not Doers? With the invention of television our life became more fun. We received a great way of entertainment, and now in order to relax, we just have to push a button and find a program that is the most interesting for us. We can choose a show most appropriate for our current mood, whether it is curious, sad, fun, or any other. But let us consider the habits that television has developed in us. TV has certainly made many people lazier. Before its invention people knew that they had to go in for some activity to have fun. But now they just have to take a sit and switch on the TV set. Lack of physical activities is also a result of coach-potato lifestyle, which is conditioned by television. Besides, due to such lifestyles different health disorders may occur. Almost all the people realize the threats related to constant TV watching, but the other risks may not be obvious to everyone. One of them is that TV urges us to watch other peopleââ¬â¢s lives, and some people can get so involved in some program that they forget to manage their own life. They just watch, doing nothing. And that is not the way things should be. People have to live in action. Their body and mind depend on it. If a person is eager only to watch TV, he/she is not acting, which is contradictory to the very human existence. Everyone has to decide what role TV will play in his/her life and it is highly recommended to limit its influence as much as possible. We have only one life and watching other peopleââ¬â¢s lives is not the best way of spending it.

Challenges of Poverty and Homelessness for Floods-myassignmenthelp
Question: Discuss about theChallenges of Poverty and Homelessness for Floods. Answer: Introduction Poverty is a universal situation where human being lack or not able to access basic needs. Homelessness is an overall condition where a person lacks a permanent place for living or dwelling. Today ,many people around the world has lives a poor life not because they lack the sources but others are in work but they cannot meet their needs since the income is too low. Some lacks dwelling place due to many different factors some are natural calamities like floods and every poverty itself. Challenges of homelessness Homeless according to Buckner (2008). people are exposed to so many challenges than any other person around the globe. Though the challenges are countless, the major and crucial one are stated below. Personal security and privacy. Homeless people have got a lot of problems when it comes to security. They are never safe since they dont own a place where they can privately execute their daily jobs. Especially during night, they are never safe since they dont posses a private place to sleep. This posses them to a lot of risks of being attacked by other people and also wild animals. Reduced access to health care. This is confusing so much since homeless people cannot access health care freely like other people. This is because they cannot have a place to keep their belongings in order to attend the services in case of emergency. Limited access to education. Education is the key to good life. This needs motivation in order to freely and conveniently pursue education. When a person is homeless, this right to education changes, this is because it becomes difficult to do personal study, no origin so no place to prepare from so that to attend school, and also no motivation that can make the person attend to school. Loss of relationship with the mainstream. Homeless people are not trusted They are taken as thieves. They are discriminated by other people since they have no specific dwelling place. In fact, such people cannot be employed anywhere when it is discovered so regardless of the cause of the situation since they are taken as a burden and therefore not suitable for any vacancy. With this situation , they are also disturbed mentally and also make then separate themselves from the haves since they feel like they are lesser human beings. Challenges of poverty Poverty has become the driving force of all evil doings in the world as. Many people around the world are poor and therefore poverty has affected more than 73% of the people in the globe. Though poverty has levels from the haves, moderate and the have nots. The below are the challenges that poverty encapsulated people face in their daily executions, Anger (2010).. Lack of quality education According to Espinosa (2014).Poverty entrenched people might not get quality education same to those who have money since education is attached to money In most of the countries in the world. This is very much critical since most of the families which are eaten deep with poverty they always struggle to meet their most basic needs of life which is food, shelter and clothing. But since they cannot meet the basics, education to them is taken as secondary hence they cannot accomplish this secondary need while primary need has not been done away with. Lack of quality health care Health services in most of the countries is subject to payment. Most of the health facilities which provide quality services are very much expensive to ow class dwellers. A person therefore suffers a lot in case is ill and the medication which is needs must be provided from the health services which most modern and current facilities. This kind of discrimination makes poor people die where as they could have been saved for the same, Thornton Herrero (2008).. Struggle for upkeep It is a real toil for a poor family to have a full day upkeep in terms of food and clothing. They really toil in order to make ends meet. The improvement in their living standards is painfully slow and is also tedious to achieve the normal meals daily. Conclusion Poverty and homelessness is the worst situation of life that a human being can live in. The people who come across this kind of life faces a lot of challenges that could even lead to death, Springer (2013).. A worst being homeless person since being homeless, you become poor by default since you miss one of the most basic need for a human being which is shelter and food too. Cloud Computing Data Management Services
Question: Discuss about the Cloud Computingfor Data Management Services. Answer: Introduction With the ever increasing demand for data management services, organizations strive for the best solutions to both manage their data seamlessly and securely. To ensure the best service, organizations seek to have the latest equipment as IT equipment generally become redundant, or need replacement, especially for enterprise systems after every four years ('Blue Data', 2017). In managing data, especially where many users and huge data amounts are involved, organizations have two choices; one is to use the traditional and widely used approach of purchasing the requisite equipment and managing them in-house or in their premises. Another more recent approach is the use of co-location services where an organization purchases the requisite equipment but then have them located in a different and shared physical location where it has complete control and access to all its data; however, the costs of power and cooling are shared, but the company pays for the use of the space (Puro, 2016). The t hird option, which is similar to co-location, is the use of cloud services. Cloud services are similar to co-location in how they work, except that in cloud services, the service provider offers all the hardware plus the necessary software and other applications and the customer pays per use. All data is managed by the cloud services provider on behalf of the customer (Mahmood, 2013). All the three methods carry their respective merits and demerits; however, it is not easy to decide on the best without taking into consideration the requisite resource usage for each of the methods. This paper is going to make a comparison between an organizations purchasing all the equipment and managing its data and IT needs on site; the common and traditional method approach. This will be compared mainly with cloud computing because co-location is almost similar to cloud computing, but still entails purchasing equipment. However, a mention will be made on co-location during the discussions. This paper begins by briefly defining and explaining the two main approaches to managing data, which is purchasing the IT equipment and infrastructure and cloud computing and discusses them at a theoretical level. The paper will then obtain various prices for the case scenario hardware and equipment, as well as the requisite software and other features; for instance air conditioning. The prices obtained will be based on standard or retail prices from vending sites such as New Egg, PC World, Radio Shark, Amazon, and E-Bay and then be used to compute the TCO (total ownership costs). The paper then selects a standard and widely used cloud services provider and compares the charges, based on similar data and computing needs as would cost if the equipment and IT facilities were bought and used on site (in house). The amounts are then compared over a four year period, which is when IT equipment for enterprise applications become obsolete and therefore require replacing. The paper then discusses the findings, compares them, while revisiting the respective merits and demerits of each, before making a decision and recommending the best solution that would suit the case scenario. The assumptions made are also discussed and justified, before a conclusion is drawn. Enterprise IT Solutions; to Purchase or Rent ? There are several benefits to running applications and storing data on an online platform; among them being flexibility, disaster recovery, automated software updates, reduced or no capital expenditure, the ability to work from anywhere, increased collaboration, security, and a low environmental foot print. Another commonly touted advantage of cloud computing is that it results in significant cost savings and enables an organization to focused on its main activity and leave the IT hassle to the specialists (Alexander, more, 2017), (Froehlich, 2015). For on premise computing, there are also several benefits; the main one being total control over data and the It infrastructure; the business handles all its confidential information without the risk of this data being breached. Another benefit is that the organization depends less on the vendor such as having to be locked-in on various technology y decisions made by the vendor. On premise solutions also allow for easy customization of d ata and IT infrastructure to suit the needs of the organization and can be a foundation for future expansi0on into the hybrid. Further, it limits on-going costs as compared to cloud computing where services are paid for regularly (Lindskog, Berglund, Vallhagen, Berlin, Johansson, 2012). While both approaches have their benefits, the more significant one is on costs and capital expenditure, since organizations aim for a better return on investment (ROI) for every investment they make on an IT enterprise system. The cost is what this paper will focus upon (Plattner Zeier ,2012) Costs On premise IT System and Infrastructure This entails making equipment and software purchases and then setting it up and managing/ administering; considering the case scenario, the following equipment were sought from vendors and their costs obtained as shown in the table below; Product Description Specifications Unit Price Quantity Total HPE ProLiant ML150 Gen9 Server (tower) Intel Xeon E5-2600 v4 processor * Core 1439 3 4317 8 GB RAM 0 2.5 inch 50 GD SSD SFF hard disk 103 3 309 HPE ProLiant ML150 Gen9 Server (tower) Intel Xeon E5-2600 v4 processor * Core 1199 6 7194 8 GB RAM 0 2.5 inch 100 GD SSD SFF hard disk 290 6 1740 HP ML350 G6 Tower Server Quad CORE E5620 2.4Ghz 6GB RAM 799 4 3196 10 TB HDD Seagate Enterprise Capacity 3.5 HDD 10TB, SATA 6Gb/s 7,200RPM 512N 419 0 Load balancing device F5 BIG-IP Global Traffic Manager 1600 Big-ip Ltm Enterprise 1600 4gb 4000 2 8000 Server Software Windows Windows Server R 2 64 Bit 200 13 2600 Setup costs 1500 1 1500 Server administration costs 7089 1 7089 UPS APC SURT6000XLI, Smart-UPS, RT 6000VA, 230V, 4200 Watts 2999 13 38987 ISP Internet service provider with dual connection 45 48 2160 Air conditioner Tripplite SmartRack 12,000 BTU 230V Portable Air Conditioning Unit 770 4 3080 Networking and cabling Network cables for the servers 2500 1 2500 RAID controller IT Mode LSI 9211-8i SAS SATA 8-port PCI-E 6Gb/s Controller Card 80 13 1040 Air conditioning Air conditioning power consumption 3066 4 12264 Power consumption (Servers) Servers power consumption 4030 4 16120 Software upgrade costs Windows plus firewall and antivirus 600 4 2400 Antivirus + antimalware Kasperski total security 12 52 624 Cisco Firewall Cisco ASA5505-SEC-PLUS Firewall 165 3 495 Total Cost of Ownership over Four Years 115615 Assumptions In making the computations, it is assumed that the servers will be running for 24 hours and that they can only be stopped for scheduled maintenance or during power outages. It is also assumed that the premise IT system will require some form of continuity and data security so the organization will install RAID architecture for the Servers with RAID controller hardware. The power consumption rates are based on standard power consumption for Turkey/ or the EU (European Union). The power consumptions are based on the server power ratings and ignore internal power consumption by the UPS systems. The air conditioning servers will be three, one each for every set of servers (on a use basis) and each is capable of 12500 BTU and are rated at 3500 W; it is assumed that the cooling systems will on average run for 24 hours. The server administration costs are assumed to be at the rate of 25% of the serve capital expenditure and that server maintenance costs will rise as the servers get older. T he various software, especially antivirus and server will be updated and upgraded yearly, with the upgrade costs estimated (anti-virus license must be renewed every year). It is also assumed that the power rates will not change or change significantly over the four year period. Estimated networking costs are also included in the TCO computations. The computations assume that the IT staff are paid under general costs and so are not included in these computations. Cloud Services For the cloud solution, the company will use various services, including Saas (software as a service), IaaS (infrastructure as a service), and PaaS (platform as a service). T hese are all charged in a single package, which includes management and backup charges; these were computed from the 11 cloud services calculator; note that the storage capacities offered are much higher than the requirements but have been used due to backup requirements. These were computed in a spreadsheet as shown below; Server Cores RAM HDD Cost per month Per Year Servers Total Cloud server XL 4 8 GB 160 50 600 4 2400 Cloud server 3XL 8 8 GB 240 130 390 3 1170 Cloud server 5 XL 16 48 GB 500 255 3060 6 18360 Total per year 21930 Total Four Years 87720 Assumptions There are no set up costs; the server hard disk space is much higher than what is specified in the case scenario because it is assumed the organization will want data backup through the cloud. Discussions From the above computations and estimates, it is clear that on premise systems have a higher cost of ownership over the four year period when compared with cloud services. The bulk of the TCO for the on premise system is because of the upfront capital expenditures in purchasing the hardware and software. However, server administration costs are also significant, being estimated at being between 15 and 25 % of the total server and related capital expenditure, for which the maximum possible amount is used. The calculations show that the cloud option with a higher capacity than required in the case will cost $ 87720 while the cost for the on premise system will have a TCO of $ 115615. From the computations, the cloud services will cost just over 75% compared to the on premise solution, and still achieve very high capacity. This implies that the cloud solution will achieve a significant cost saving of 24% over the four year period. Revisiting the advantages of both systems, it can be see n that the cloud service still is a better option and is therefore recommended as the best solution. Conclusion and Recommendations This paper evaluated the relative benefits of using an on remise system and cloud services for servers for a case scenario. The relative advantages of the two systems were reviewed and the TCO for both systems computed by using actual charges as of April 2017 for both the IT equipment and cloud services. The results show that the cloud option will result in significant savings of 24% over four years compared to the on premise solution and therefore, this paper recommends the cloud solution. As a future research recommendation, this paper proposes future research to investigate the TCO of a hybrid on premise system extended to the cloud. References Puro, N. Archetypes of edward scissor hands Essay Example
Archetypes of edward scissor hands Essay Example Archetypes of edward scissor hands Paper Archetypes of edward scissor hands Paper Danni Perez Emily Chased Archetypes of Edward Scissor Hands In the words of Carl Jung, a well-known psychologist, an archetype is An innate tendency which molds and transforms the individual consciousness. A fact defined more through a drive than through specific inherited contents, images etc. ; a matrix which influences the human behavior as well as his ideas and concepts on the ethical, moral religious and cultural levelsnuns). This research paper provides different archetypes that are present in Edward Chardonnays. The 1990 film of Edward Scissor Hands portrays an American romantic fantasy film based on the loosing of a young creation. The story takes place in a cookie cutter suburban society where Peg, an Avon representative lingers into a dark and mysterious castle where she stumbles upon the thrilling creation we know as Edward. The humble orphan who we grow to love is the product of an Inventors (creator) search for companionship, but an untimely death leaves him with chardonnays and the inability to fit into society. As the story progresses we notice how Edward and Pegs relationship becomes more meaningful when she takes the role of being the( mentor). Peg takes Edward under her wing and in an unselfish manner provides him with the crucial necessities that he had been deprived of. After moving in with Peg and her family, Edward becomes the source of the latest gossip in the community; everyone is interested in meeting the mysterious guest Peg has brought into her home. A barbecue is held in Pegs backyard attempting to welcome him to their neighborhood. Zoos and shahs arise as everyone catches a glimpse of the magical pair of chardonnays he possesses, but show no sign of rejection towards the innocent lad. As people in the community realize Edwards ability to create topiary gardens, cut dogs and human hair he becomes the new sensation who the ladies Just cant get enough of. Joyce (seductress) one of the ladies shows particular fondness towards Edward and decides to act upon her feelings. She unmercifully throws herself upon him but is sadly rejected in her conquest to ignite romance and is left with bitterness instead. On the other hand, we all cant help but notice how Edwards affection is directed towards Kim (damsel in distress), Pegs daughter. Being at her feet he does anything that she can possibly request out f him, and soon enough her Jealous boyfriend Jim (Villain) comes to conclude that Edward has feeling towards her. In retribution Jim strategically forms a plot to destroy Edwards reputation, turning him into the perfect disaster leading to his downfall. After being incarcerated for breaking into Jims house, Kim apologizes for the situation that she has placed him in, confessing that it was Jims house; something that Edward had known all along. From this point on Kim experiences an awakening of the hidden emotions she has towards Edward, ones that she could ever feel towards Jim, forcing her to end the relationship between them. Jim becomes infuriated with the fact that hes no longer Skims choice, and wrath takes over his unmerciful soul, revenge is his vendetta. Succeeding his entanglement longer the same. Those that once loved him so fondly now make it their duty to remove him from their Utopia. Surrounded with frustration, his family feels obligated to teach him right from wrong to avoid future conundrums. Knowing that he was set up, Edward feels betrayed and resentful but manages to keep composure in the eyes of society, but not for long. As Jims soul intention is to become Edwards worst nightmare, and extinguish his newly found happiness. Pegs annual Christmas party is finally here, but this time, life has different plans for them. Everyone throughout the neighborhood feels the need to isolate themselves from the sins that Edward commits, positioning him and his family as outcast. As the family prepares for the occasion, Jim decides to unexpectedly drop by and witnesses Edward accidental cut Skims palm while sculpting an ice figure. At that moment Jim exposes his true intentions by pushing Edward to his limit, forcing him to leave the cane both angry and humiliated. As Edward storms through the neighborhood his anger gets the best of him, and pushes him into a stage of destruction. Those in the community become frightened of his unusual behavior, and decide to take action into their own hands by calling the local police. His family, in particular Peg, question if bringing Edward into society had been the best decision and go out in search of the naive lad. After regaining his composure, Edward heads back home and spends significant time with Kim, where they finally express their feeling for one another. But Just as things start to get interesting, Edward glances out the window and is shocked at the sight of harm coming towards Kevin (Pegs brother). Edward instinctively takes it upon himself to become Sevens savior and as Jim and some reckless friend lose control of the car they are in, Edward tackles Kevin to the grass, ultimately saving him. In attempts to assure that he is okay Edward accidental scratches Sevens face due to his chardonnays. When Jim sees this he accuses Edward of purposefully hurting Kevin, and takes action against him by viciously attacking him. Hearing the commotion the neighbors quickly rush to the scene, and after seeing that Edward is involved, conclude that he is the culprit. As the local police begins to approach, Kim tells frightened Edward to run, and heads towards the castle. Once there he is cornered by the policeman, who spares Edward by allowing him to retrieve into his home. Disbelieving the policemans statement on Edwards demise, Kim along with the rest of the community make their way to search for Edward themselves. Kim discreetly enters the castle in hopes of finding Edward, ND when she does she is overwhelmed with Joy; the first words that escape her lips are I love you, the most powerful words Edward had ever heard. The Joyful moment came to a halt when Jims arrival disrupted the environment, he fully charged at Edward with the intention of killing him, and after the short lived battle between the two Edward triumphed by putting an end to Jims life with the divine gift of his chardonnays. In the end Edward remained secluded in his home where he could do what he was meant to do, express himself, and although their love was strong, Kim and Edward never see each other again. As it may already be apparent this story line is full of many archetypes. We see Edward take a Journey, in search of identity and love, where he finds both. He becomes an artist that is loved, but things begin to fall apart when he finds love with Kim, and the town turns against him a transcendent hero, a hero as a lover, and an unbalanced hero. There are also many characteristics of the heros Journey in this film. The hero, Edward, is naive and inexperienced, when dealing with society, and has to learn many basic things that occur in everyday life. Peg is his caregiver who guides him to assimilate to their customs. We see the hero yearns for Kim, who is sometimes his guide and inspiration. Edward loves Kim and wants to be with her and he is willing to do anything to conquest her. Another characteristic that we see is the Journey that the hero must embark in order to learn a lesson, change in some way, and return home. This is shown when he goes into the town, tries to fit in with society, realizes he cant change who he is and that it is better to be yourself and therefore returns to his home. A situation archetype that is portrayed in the movie is the classic battle between good and evil. Edward represents the good character, while Jim the Jealous boyfriend is the evil character. Throughout the movie we witness them fighting over Kim, Jim tries to take out Edward by putting him in unfair situations that lead him to trouble and a bad reputation in the community. In the end they battle it out and Edward wins Skims heart making her his lover. The color black in Edwards attire is a representation of mystery, the unknown, and what makes him different from those in the neighborhood. Green is seen in his garden throughout his creations, which are a symbol of hope, growth, sympathy, and adaptability . Look closely, in the film we see how the houses are strategically color coordinated this shows how they are very limited to all being the same where being unique is considered absurd. At times we wish Edward could have real hands because it would allow him to fit into society, rather than being accepted solely based on sympathy and selfish necessities. The inventor is very lonesome and would enjoy companionship, better yet a son. The solution is found within his machinery, at the beginning of the film we notice that he places a heart shaped cookie towards one of his machines. Edward was the solution to his lonesomeness, but unfortunately he died before acquiring the fond relationship he longed for, Edward still manages to have emotions based on the experiences of love he has with Kim. This film tells a great fantasy tale about romance and finding ones identity, it follows many archetypes making it a phenomenal story line. If you found a brief case full of money what would you do with it states Bob, Pegs husband, Edward repels Give it to my loved ones. No, the correct answer is turning in the money says Bob. The moral dilemma shows how Edward would respond to a even situation, he is a kindhearted soul seeking whats best for those that are closest to him, full of passiveness and generosity towards all, we cant help but fall for the warmness of his character. This all takes a turning point when Jim fully launches himself at Edward in the final scene of the castle, in this precise moment he must decide if to use his Chardonnays to defend both himself and Kim or to Just stick to his humble origins and let Jim win the fight. Edward decides to kill Jim ultimately saving their lives. Edward Chardonnays shows many similarities to Frankincense, rue monster is humanity itself. The only sense of peace for the creations is to be in absolute isolation to escape being criticized. The Greek mythology based on this film is allured to the theme of Beauty and the Beast, which is also present in Happiest, a beast who is a lame God that lacks physical attractiveness, He falls for Aphrodite the goddess of love, as Edward does for Kim. Isolation in a castle secludes Edward from society Just as Happiest lives in heaven with Hear and Zeus, Edward does topiary, cuts human and dog hair, and Hyphenates is a sculptor, the comparisons between the two are very evidential.

Finally, based on this understanding we shall be able to judge the validity of the statement. So in the following, first GDP shall be introduced as a concept. Only the market value of final goods and services are included and the market value of all goods used as intermediaries in the process of production are excluded in the measurement of national income to avoid the problem of double counting. Sometimes as an alternative, to avoid the double counting problem, to measure national income, the value added at each stage of production is calculated and added up. However, the objective remains to estimate the national income on an economy as adequately as possible. It is important to note that GDP can be expressed in two forms ââ¬â nominal GDP and real GDP.
